Gay Twitter Field Day (Luigi Mangione + Golden Globe Nominations)

Every few months or so there are days on Twitter that make you say “Wow, I’m so glad I haven’t jumped ship from this app yet” and this week was a gold mine.

Happy Wednesday - you know what hump day means around here...new podcast episode!

The internet loses it’s mind over Luigi Mangione, the United Healthcare CEO shooter

Now listen, I’m not excusing murder in any capacity but I genuinely thought we were witnessing an unsolved murder mystery in real time. The fact that this man, Luigi Mangione 🤌, murdered a CEO, and escaped into Central Par leaving only a backpack for the NYPD to find days later with nothing but Monopoly money inside of it had all of the writings to be a next-level assassination story. Now imagine all of this and getting caught while enjoying a McDonald’s hash brown in Pennsylvania…how posh. Here’s what we know about Luigi Mangione 🤌:

  • He’s 26 years old (hilarious age to murder the CEO of a health insurance company)

  • He was his high school valedictorian

  • He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and mathematics and a master’s degree in engineering

  • His cousin is Nino Mangione, a Maryland state delegate who represents parties in Baltimore country

  • He went missing after he had a back surgery that “changed everything” (i.e., he had a psychotic break)

Once his identity was revealed, it was game over. We now know that he thinks Ariana Grande is hot, has seen Charli xcx’s 2021 documentaryAlone Together’, is a Gleek, and rated Dr. Seuss’ ‘The Lorax’ as one of his highest rated reads on Goodreads. Knowing all that, of course gay Twitter sees abs and immediately think “we can fix him” and “he’s so baby girl.” Twitter gays aren’t the only ones who seem to be thirsting over 2024’s hottest assassin, they have released at least four different images of him being held so clearly these police are just as horny as all of us.

2025 Golden Globes Nominations are here and they’re stacked

The 2025 Golden Globe nominations are here and boy, oh boy are the gays going to eat during this red carpet. You might as well air this award show on Mother’s Day because the nominees are just mother after mother after mother. Let’s discuss:

  • Quinta Brunson, Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series

  • Ariana Grande, Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role

  • Nicole Kidman, Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture

  • Cynthia Erivo, Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture

  • Angelina Jolie, Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture

  • Pamela Anderson, Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture

  • Zendaya, Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture

  • Kate Winslet, Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture

  • Jean Smart, Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series

  • Ayo Edibri, Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series'

  • Kathryn Hahn, Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series

  • Hannah Einbinder, Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Supporting Role

And on top of all of those ladies, Nikki Glaser is hosting. I mean, come ON…it’s truly a revolving door of mothers. The show will air live January 5th at 8 PM on Paramount+ and I cannot wait.

P.S. before anyone mentions it, yes I intentionally didn’t include any men in this recap but if you’d like to see the full list of nominations, they can be found here.

We also yapped about….

  • Taylor Swift has officially bid adieu to The Eras Tour after 149 shows across 51 cities and five continents. This tour has been such a part of the culture for the last year and a half so it’s bittersweet to see it end, but it was definitely time to wrap it up (respectfully).

  • Barry Keoghan deleted his Instagram and released a statement after rumors sparked of him cheating on Sabrina Carpenter. Now of course if he did cheat on Sabrina, he’s a P.O.S. However, I do want to remind everyone of how we’re all mental health warriors once someone does something drastic (*ahem* Liam Payne) so maybe let’s lay off with the appearance and bad dad comments on a situation nobody knows anything about.

  • Megan Fox and MGK call it quits amid pregnancy…and honestly? I’m so tired of hearing about these two and their roller coaster of a relationship. Megan allegedly found something on MGK’s phone that she wasn’t happy with and made him leave their Thanksgiving trip. If you’re snooping through your mans phone, you’re already surrendering to a lack of trust within your relationship.

  • Jay-Z responds to allegations that he raped a 13-year-old girl with P. Diddy after the 2000’s MTV Music Video Awards. The lawyer spearheading this case, Tony Buzbee, has a history of some fishy behavior throughout his career but in times like these it’s important to remember that we need to listen to these victims and not diminish their stories.

  • Despite the drama going on at home, Blue Ivy looked stunning at the premiere of her film debut, Mufasa: The Lion King. Wearing a custom Cristian Siriano dress, she was joined by Beyoncé, Jay, and Miss Tina on her big night. As a lifelong Beyoncé fan, I feel like Blue is my niece and I will always cheer for her successes as we watch her figure out what path she wants to go down professionally.
