Dance Parties with Beyoncé + Chappell Roan's Standing on Business
Let’s discuss misogyny within pop culture, shall we? Dance parties with Beyoncé, Chappell Roan confronts a photographer, Timothée Chalamet lost the Timothée Chalamet lookalike contest, and so much more.
Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland endorse Kamala Harris at Houston rally
Are you ready for this jelly!? H-Town got a very special surprise this past Friday at the Harris-Walz rally when queen Bey and Kelly Rowland took the stage to deliver two incredibly moving speeches before welcoming the future president to the stage.
“A mother who cares deeply about the world my children and all of our children live in, a world where we have the freedom to control our bodies, a world where we’re not divided. Imagine our daughters growing up seeing what’s possible with no ceilings, no limitations.”
Kamala has been using Freedom (my personal favorite song from Lemonade) since she announced she was running for president so we knew Beyoncé was on board (not to mention her constant support for the democratic nominees over the years such as performing at Obama’s inauguration, appearing at a Clinton-Kaine rally in 2016, and publicly endorsing Biden-Harris in 2020) but having her make this appearance was such a nice way to kick off the final week of the election. (P.S. make sure you get out and VOTE. I want to have a woman president when I write next week’s podcast notes.)
Woman found cooked alive in a Walmart bakery department walk-in oven
What in the Final Destination? When you clock in for work you might expect to be frustrated by a co-worker or be tasked with something that’s not in your paygrade, but being cooked alive is never something that crosses anyones mind…until now. Last Saturday a 19-year-old woman was found cooked alive inside a walk-in oven at the Walmart she worked at. As if that sentence isn’t crazy enough, her mother is the one who found her. I. KNOW.
The police issued a statement saying “the investigation is complex and involves several partner agencies. An investigation of this nature may take a significant amount of time.” Walmart has also released a statement and will be providing 24/7 virtual and in-person support and grief counseling for everyone who has been affected by this tragedy. This story is equal parts heartbreaking and insane. Walmart employees across the US are now speaking up and saying these ovens have a safety handle inside that will open the door in case you get trapped inside, and they’ve also said that these ovens don’t just close on their own - you need to pull it shut or someone has to push it closed. So how the hell did this happen!? I am so intrigued at this story and need to know how this poor girl got stuck inside this oven. What the hell!?
Taylor Swift surprises NOLA Eras Tour Night 2 with Sabrina Carpenter duet
It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s that me espresso! Taylor Swift is nearing the end of her Eras Tour, but now without a few surprises up her sleeve. She surprised the crowd at NOLA night 2 with everyone’s favorite 4’11” pop star, Sabrina Carpenter!
After teasing the crowd by covering a few lines of ‘Espresso’, Taylor gave her bestie a rang and what do you know - Sabrina just so happened to be backstage at the show. Who would have thought!? She joined Taylor on stage for a mashup of ‘Espresso’, ‘Is It Over Now?’, and ‘Please, Please, Please’. This is the first time Taylor has brought out a surprise guest and sang a song that wasn’t a collab with the artist (besides bringing Gracie Abrams out in Cincinnati after her set got cancelled, but we all knew Gracie was there.) Absolutely loved this moment between the two of them and will always cheer when I see pop girls supporting pop girls.
Celine Dion attends Adele’s ‘Weekends with Adele’ Las Vegas residency
Celine Dion showing up to your show is one of the highest honors for any musical artist, but I fear Adele has won the highest honor from the Queen of Power Ballads herself. Adele’s Vegas residency ‘Weekends with Adele’ is coming to an end next month after two-years of being on and off. You might be asking “why is this such a big deal?” and to that I say: Adele is performing in Celine’s palace. This residency takes place at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace; a venue that was built in 2003 for Celine Dion’s ‘A New Day…’ residency.
“I have a picture of her right next to the stage that I touch every night before I walk on and she came to the show this weekend and it was a surprise and it was a MOMENT!!” Adele shares on Instagram (linked above), just doubling down on how major this is for all parties. Once again, I will always cheer on girls being girls girls.
Liam Payne’s first posthumous single set to be released this Friday
Where the above story is the poster child for “passing the torch”, this one is the poster child for “too soon.” Liam Payne’s first posthumous single ‘Do No Wrong’ featuring Sam Pounds is set to be released this Friday, November first. Note: Liam Payne passed away on October 16th. 14 days ago. It gets worse.
Since passing, reports have come out that Universal Music dropped Liam from their label just days before his passing because they “didn’t think his music would resonate with fans” - so now that he’s dead it will? Sources close to his family have reported that his family is not supportive of this release and I couldn’t agree more. This feels so slimy and money-hungry on all fronts. I’m hoping they realize how incredible tone deaf this is and decide to pull the release, but time will tell.
Tom Holland pushes paparazzi away from Zendaya
Tom Holland and Zendaya stepped out to celebrate the launch of his new non-alcoholic beer company, Bero, over the weekend and he proved that great power (dating Zendaya) comes with great responsibility.
I think we can all agree that this was incredibly hot, right? 🥵
Chappell Roan defends herself against rude photographer
This Midwest Princess is standing on business, and I live! While walking the purple carpet at the Olivia Rodrigo: GUTS World Tour Netflix premiere she spotted a photographer who was not-so-kind to her at a previous GRAMMYs event.
"You were so disrespectful to me at the Grammys. You yelled at me at the Grammy party. At the Universal after-party. I remember. You were so rude to me. I deserve an apology for that. Yeah. Yep, you do. No, no, no. You need to apologize."
Personally, I love the way she doesn’t take shit from anyone. No matter where she is. who they are, or what the situation, she isn’t going to let anyone walk all over her - so why do people have such a problem with it!? We’ve seen the media and paparazzi treat these people like dollar signs for years, constantly dehumanizing them to “get the shot” or “secure the story.” I don’t understand what everyone’s issue with her standing up for herself is and I’ll always champion anyone standing up for themselves.
